Morning Phoenix! For Sippin' Saturday, here's some refreshments that pair well with yesterday's Friday Flicks. Although, I must say, I would think that drink would be much better in a shot glass instead of what they use.... just sayin'. Have a good one! Cheers!

Sausage Party Treats - Tipsy Bartender

BB 8/26/16

Morning Phoenix! Ready for some Friday Flicks? Here’s one – Sausage Party. It’s an animated feature, but it’s for adults as it’s rated R for crude sexual content, language, and drug use. Sausages? Anyway, here we go!

Plot: The products at Shopwell's Grocery Store are made to believe a code that helps them live happy lives until it's time for them to leave the comfort of the supermarket and head for the great beyond. However, after a botched trip to the great beyond leaves one sausage named Frank and his companion Bun stranded, Frank goes to great lengths (pun intended) to return to his package and make another trip to the great beyond. But as Frank's journey takes him from one end of the supermarket to the other, Frank's quest to discover the truth about his existence as a sausage turns incredibly dark. Can he expose the truth to the rest of the supermarket and get his fellow products to rebel against their human masters?

Trivia:
• Seth Rogen described the film as a dark take on Disney films: "People like to project their emotions onto the things around them: their toys, their cars, their pets... So we thought: What would it be like if our food had feelings? We very quickly realized that it would be fucked up."
• The red band trailer for this movie was accidentally shown in a screening of Finding Dory (2016) at Brenden Concord cinemas in Concord, California, horrifying young audiences.
• The license plate on the Druggies car is A113 which is an easter egg that Pixar hides in all of their feature films.
• The name of the Chinese take-out restaurant on the carton on the Druggie's table is Pu Ping, "pooping."
• According to Seth Rogen, the MPAA requested the film to remove hair from Lavash's genitals in order to keep its R rating.

Sorry, no goofs for this one. It's animated, so maybe that's why?

Good morning Phoenix! How about a Tuesday Top 10? In honor of the Olympics, here’s a list of 10 bizarre Olympics sports that actually existed!

• Tug of War: From Paris in 1900 through Antwerp in 1920. Teams of 8 had 5 minutes to pull their opponents 6 feet over the line.
• Solo Synchronized Swimming: What were they thinking? Who were they synchronizing with? Dancing with an imaginary partner while swimming? Only an event from 1984 through 1992.
• Plunge for Distance: USA remains the remaining champion after the 1904 games in St. Louis MO. That’s because the event was never repeated. The champion managed to glide under the surface for an astonishing 62 feet 6 inches after diving into the water.
• Hot Air Balloon Racing: 1900 Olympics in Paris. Were the French smoking something back then?
• Roller Hockey: Yeah, you read that right. It debuted at the 1992 Barcelona games. It follows the rules of ice hockey, but with roller skates. Argentina took the gold.
• Swimming Obstacle Course: 1900 Paris Games. The obstacles the swimmers had to swim over and around were as bizarre as this event itself. Swimmers crawled over boats, swam under them, and climbed a pole, all while swimming 200 meters. What the hell were they thinking?
• Pistol Dueling: 1906 Athens Games. Participants fired away at plaster dummies.
• Rope Climbing: Part of the Gymnastics competition between 1896 and 1932. In the 1904 games, it was won spectacularly by an American – who competed with one wooden leg.
• Horse Long Jump: Paris Games of 1900 – epic fail and was not repeated.
• Live Pigeon Shooting: Yep. Live Pigeons. An animal rights activist’s worst nightmare. Almost 300 pigeons were killed during the only appearance of this event in the Paris Games of 1900. (Do you see a pattern here? Paris? 1900? Told you they were smoking something….) A Belgian took the title by gunning down 21 birds. He was unable to repeat his win in future games as it was replaced by clay targets.

Good morning Phoenix! Are you ready for some Friday Flicks? It’s the weekend, so let’s “party like a mother”!

Today’s selection is Bad Moms.

Plot: A woman with a seemingly perfect life - a great marriage, overachieving kids, beautiful home, stunning looks and still holding down a career. However, she's over-worked, over committed and exhausted to the point that she's about to snap. Fed up, she joins forces with two other over-stressed moms and all go on a quest to liberate themselves from conventional responsibilities, going on a wild un-mom like binge of freedom, fun and self-indulgence - putting them on a collision course with PTA Queen Bee Gwendolyn and her clique of devoted perfect moms.

Trivia:
• Mila Kunis's wedding ring is her real-life wedding ring.
• The movie is being filmed in New Orleans and is set in Chicago.
• Mila Kunis was pregnant with her second child while filming.
• The 6 main actresses are all real-life mothers.
• When talking with the stars' real life mothers during the closing credits, Christina Applegate mentions that her mother took her to see the Al Pacino movie "Cruising" when she was 9 years old. Cruising also featured Ed O'Neill who played Applegate's father, Al Bundy, in Married With Children.

Goofs:
• At the supermarket, Carla pours a gallon of milk on her face, chest, and jeans. In the next scene, at the check-out, her clothes are clean and dry.
• When Amy talks to Gwen after the PTO election, Gwen cries in the car. Her driver's side window is partially up in one shot, and all the way down in the next shot.
• In the family therapist's office, the Galileo thermometer behind the therapist keeps showing different temperatures between cuts. One of the colored globes keeps changing positions.
• While set in Chicago, all of the film's exterior scenes were clearly filmed in New Orleans, as evidenced by numerous unique street signs, streets, buildings (mostly in the Garden District and Warehouse District), and landscape, including numerous oak trees, which only grow in the Southern U.S. and Texas.

Suicide Squad Shots - Tipsy Bartender

BB 8/12/16

Good morning Phoenix! How about putting on those rad shades and taking in a movie this weekend? It’s time for Friday Flicks.

Currently in theaters, Suicide Squad.

Plot:
A secret government agency recruits a group of imprisoned supervillains to execute dangerous black ops missions in exchange for clemency, which inevitably leads to chaos.

Trivia:
• The majority of the cast and crew got the tattoo "SKWAD" in honor of this film. The tattoos were even applied by some of the cast members, Margot Robbie and Will Smith.
• The Joker's car, the Jokermobile, is a customized Infiniti G35 Vaydor.
• Jared Leto got so immersed in playing The Joker that he wouldn't break out of character on set even when he wasn't filming. He even sent his fellow cast members "Joker-like" presents: a live rat to Margot Robbie and bullets to Will Smith, a soiled Playboy magazine to Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and a dead hog, anal beads and used condoms for the whole crew. Scott Eastwood commented that Leto frightened him at times with his behavior, and Smith mentioned that he actually never met the real Leto.
• It has been suggested that because of the dark and tormenting nature of this film, an on-set therapist was hired to keep the cast grounded.
• At 5'9 Jared Leto is the one of the shorter Jokers next to Jack Nicholson, who was 5'7, as Heath Ledger was 6'1 and Cesar Romero was 6'3.

Goofs:
• In the scene where Deadshot is practicing with weapons while still being incarcerated, no one is wearing hearing protection. This is required in any facility where firearms are shot, and it surely should have been enforced in a government-run prison facility of all places.
• The length of Joel Kinnaman's hair as Rick Flagg constantly changes from short to medium revealing that those specific scenes were re-shoots.
• Harley falls a long distance into a deep vat of chemicals, after which the Joker jumps in after her. Somehow he is able to lift her above the surface of the liquid, appearing to be standing on solid ground.
• Jared Leto's real tattoos are visible in a couple of scenes. Most notably the triangle on his forearm is seen through the shirt during the club scene.
• The admiral Waller has dinner with has a name tag on his uniform naming him "MacKensie" but the credits name him "Olsen."

Morning Phoenix! Hope everyone is staying cool on this hot and muggy Thursday.

Since the upcoming Presidential elections are about the only thing on the news lately, I thought some Presidential trivia was in order for today. Enjoy!

• The last "foreign" born US president was William Henry Harrison. He was born in 1773, in Virginia, before the USA was formed. The Constitution would later require that the president be a native-born citizen and a resident of the US for at least 14 years.
• The last US President not born in a hospital was Lyndon B. Johnson. He was born in a farmhouse in Texas in 1908.
• The last US President to be born in a log cabin was James Garfield. He was born on Nov. 19, 1831.
• The last US President to own slaves was Ulysses S. Grant. In 1848, when he married Julia Dent, she already owned 1 slave. She received a second as a wedding gift, and later purchased a third one. Grant bought a slave named William Jones and later freed him.
• The last US President to resign from office was Richard Nixon, on August 9, 1974.
• The last US President to serve 4 terms was Franklin Delano Roosevelt. In 1947, the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution limited future presidents to two terms.
