BB 7/8/16

Good morning Phoenix and welcome to the weekend! Since it’s Friday, and cause I love ya, how about an edition of Friday Flicks?
The Purge: Election Year is in theaters now. How appropriate that it is being released in a rather contentious election year. Anyway, here’s the deets:
Plot:
It's been two years since Leo Barnes (Frank Grillo) stopped himself from a regrettable act of revenge on Purge Night. Now serving as head of security for Senator Charlie Roan (Elizabeth Mitchell), his mission is to protect her in a run for president and survive the annual ritual that targets the poor and innocent. But when a betrayal forces them onto the streets of D.C. on the one night when no help is available, they must stay alive until dawn...or both be sacrificed for their sins against the state.

Trivia:
• The film takes place in March 2025.
• Takes place two years after the events of The Purge: Anarchy (2014).
• Was originally intended to be a prequel, telling the story of the very first Purge. This idea was scrapped when Frank Grillo accepted James DeMonaco's offer to reprise the character of Sergeant Leo Barnes.
• The first Purge film to be a direct story sequel, as it continues exploring the life of Frank Grillo's Sergeant Leo Barnes.
• Edwin Hodge is the only actor to have appeared in all three Purge installments.
Goofs:
• During the debate scene, the presidential candidates' dialogue is off-sync with what they're actually saying during long shots.
• The Purge: Anarchy, set in 2023, states the annual purge started six years prior, in 2017. The Purge: Election Year is set two years after The Purge: Anarchy, in 2025, but states Senator Roan's family was killed on Purge Night eighteen years prior, which would be 2007.
• When the scene that takes place in the deli after the purge begins happens, the cash register clearly displays a message saying "Good Afternoon" when in fact it is in the very early morning hours.
• In the scene when the two angry girls return with the two cars wrapped in Christmas lights, after they are hit by the medical van you clearly see her boots fly off. But after in the next scene that shows the girls on the ground they both have their boots on all over again.
• When Minister Edwidge Owens is beginning to give the sermon at the church towards the end of the film, the first word or two of his speech are unsynchronized (delayed) with the movement of his lips.
Have you seen this one yet? If so, give us your review in the comments! As for me, I’m going to binge watch The Purge and The Purge: Anarchy to get ready to see this one. If I can’t get Jenna to go with me, I know I can get some of the brothers to go with me – Kade, Aric, Niko, Rafe – you up for it? *grins*
Have a fangtastic Friday! <3 Brock V"""V
