BB 9/16/16

Happy TGIF Phoenix! How about a Friday Flicks? In honor of the sequel to The Blair Witch Project, which opens this weekend, let’s take a look back at the original.

Plot: Three film students travel to Maryland to make a student film about a local urban legend - The Blair Witch. The three went into the woods on a two-day hike to find the Blair Witch, and never came back. One year later, the students film and video were found in the woods. The footage was compiled and made into a movie. The Blair Witch Project.

Trivia:
• Heather Donahue's mother received sympathy cards from people who believed that her daughter was actually dead or missing.
• The directors kept in touch with actors Heather Donahue, Michael C. Williams and Joshua Leonard with walkie-talkies, to ensure the three would not become lost during their trek. Reportedly, they got lost at least three times.
• It took a mere eight days to shoot this film.
• The actors were given no more than a 35-page outline of the mythology behind the plot, before shooting began. All lines were improvised and nearly all the events in the film were unknown to the three actors beforehand, and they were often on-camera surprises to them all.
• Heather Donahue mentioned to Fangoria Magazine that her first question she asked the director, upon arriving on the set, was if he was planning on making a snuff film.

Goofs:
• The film supposedly takes place in 1994, but in the supermarket, Michael displays an oatmeal and raisin flavored PowerBar. Oatmeal and raisin was not available in 1994.
• At the beginning of the movie, when Josh is getting out of the car, a 1997-2003 Ford F-Series pickup can be seen in the background.
• When Josh goes missing and the two others are calling his name, Mike is wearing a plaid shirt with a white t-shirt underneath. When they change views his t-shirt is black. When they cut back it's white again.
• In the house a red light flash (from a camera) can be seen through an open window.
• The three are lost in the woods but in one scene, about 25 feet behind them, a field can be seen through a small gap in the trees. The road is also visible as they try to find the trail.

If you’ve seen this movie, what did you think of it? Do you plan to see the sequel?
Have a fangtastic day my friends! <3 Brock V"""V
