5.13.14

Good morning Phoenix, and welcome to Twisted Tuesday. Hope everyone had a good Monday, or at least as good as a Monday can be anyway!
Now for the trivia:
Pop Culture Trivia for May 13, 2014
1973: Tennis male chauvinist Bobby Riggs defeated Margaret Smith Court, 6-2, 6-1 in front of a world-wide television audience. He would lose to Billie Jean King later that year.
1981: Pope John Paul II was shot and wounded by Mehmet Ali Agca as he drove through a crowd in St. Peter's Square, Rome.
Joke of the Day:
A grade school teacher gave the assignment to her class that each student should think of a story and then a moral for that story to share with the class the next day. The following day the teacher asks for the first volunteer to tell their story, and little Suzy raises her hand. "My dad owns a farm and every Sunday we load the chicken eggs on the truck and drive into town to sell them at the market. Well, one Sunday we hit a big bump and all the eggs flew out of the basket and onto the road."
The teacher asks for the moral of the story and Suzy replies, "Don't keep all your eggs in one basket."
Next little Lucy offers to tell her story Lucy, and she says, "Well my dad owns a farm too and every weekend we take the chicken eggs and put them in the incubator. Last weekend only 8 of the 12 eggs hatched."
The teacher asks for the moral of the story and Lucy replies, "Don't count your eggs before they're hatched."
Finally its little Billy's turn and he says, "My uncle Ted fought in the Vietnam War, and his plane was shot down over enemy territory. He jumped out before it crashed with only a machine gun, a machete, and case of beer. On the way down he drank the case of beer."
"Unfortunately, he landed right in the middle of 100 Vietnamese soldiers. He shot 70 with his machine gun, but ran out of bullets, so he pulled out his machete and killed 20 more. The blade on his machete broke, so he killed the last ten with his bare hands."
The teacher looks in shock at Billy and asks if there is possibly any moral to his story and Billy replies, "Don't mess with Uncle Ted when he's been drinking."
Quote of the Day:
As soon as someone is identified as an unsung hero, he no longer is.
Random Daily Factoid:
Pocahontas appeared on the back of the $20 bill in 1875.
Today's Beautiful Place to Visit:
Monument Valley, USA. It is a region of the Colorado Plateau characterized by a cluster of vast sandstone buttes, the largest reaching 1000 feet above the valley floor. It is located on the Arizona-Utah state line near the Four Corners area. The valley lies within the range of the Navajo Nation Reservation and is accessible from US Highway 163.
It has long been featured in film and television, some examples are: 2001: A Space Odyssey (as the surface of an alien planet), Once Upon a Time in the West, Easy Rider, and Thelma and Louise to name but a few.
One last parting thought - children laugh an average of 300 times per day. Adults only 5. What's wrong with that picture? Laugh more - there's always room for laughter - Kade and I tend to prove that on a daily basis. Have a fangtastic day, and remember, the Phoenix fans ROCK!
