BB 10/22/15

Good morning Phoenix, and it's time for another edition of TBT. This is the day when I bore you silly with stuff that happened years ago on this day. *grins* Ready? Here we go!

• 1914: Congress passes the Revenue Act mandating the first tax on incomes over $3,000.
• 1927 : The findings of a special grand jury in to the floggings carried out by members of the Ku Klux Klan in Crenshaw County Alabama ended with 102 indictments against men involved with the 20 lashings in that county. A public statement was also made that corruption by political figures in the area should also now go to Jury.
• 1934: Pretty Boy Floyd was finally shot by G-Men from Hoovers FBI team today in a corn field in Ohio after refusing to surrender. It is believed Floyd preferred death in a shoot out to death in the electric chair. Pretty Boy Floyd had added 4 new notches to his notorious fob watch in June when he attempted to free fellow robber Nash during a machine gun battle 4 G-Men agents were killed and Nash was killed in the crossfire in Kansas City and at that point the G-Men dedicated themselves to finding Floyd as the most wanted killer in America.
• 1962: In a speech to the American people John F Kennedy told the audience that American Spy Planes had discovered Soviet Missile bases in Cuba, and that these missile bases when complete would be able to launch missiles capable of striking a number of US cities, he told the people that America could not allow these missile bases to be finished and would pursue any action necessary including military action to protect the nation. He informed the American people that the first stage was to place a naval quarantine on the waters around Cuba. This is known in history as the “Cuban Missile Crisis " and took the world to the brink of nuclear war with US forces going to DEFCON 2 in preparation to full scale war. America realized that the missile launchers construction was continuing and decided that a full scale invasion of Cuba would be needed to stop the missile bases being completed, the Soviets then transmitted a proposal that all missile bases in Cuba would be dismantled in exchange for the United States not invading Cuba and dismantling America’s missile bases in Turkey.
• 1973: Following President Nixon firing special prosecutor Archibald Cox and abolishing the Watergate Prosecution Force, the resignation of the Attorney General Elliot L Richardson and the firing of all his deputies the call for Impeachment of President Nixon is growing including members of both sides of the house and the first formal steps are expected to come on Tuesday when Congress returns from the long weekend including Veterans Day.
• 2002: The Washington Sniper claims his last victim Conrad Johnson a bus driver in Aspen Hill, Md., in the 13th and final attack. The two men involved were arrested 2 days later on October 24.
• 2013: The Australian Capital Territory parliament voted to legalize same-sex marriage. It was the first part of the country to legalize same-sex marriage. In 2004, marriage was defined between a man and woman by the Australian federal government.

Happy Income Tax Anniversary Day - NOT. Have a fangtastic day everyone! <3 Brock V"""V
