8.27.13

Good morning and Happy Tuesday Phoenix! Hope you all have a great day today. Looks like it's going to be a scorcher, so stay cool!
On this day in:
1883: A massive volcanic eruption on the island of Krakatoa blew up most of the island and resulted in tsunamis that killed over 36,000 people.
1945: U.S. troops began landing in Japan after Japan's surrender in World War II.
2003: Mars made its closest approach to earth in 60,000 years.

Famous Birthdays:
Lyndon B. Johnson, Former President, 1908–1973
Since LBJ was from Texas, today’s strange laws come from his home state:
Lubbock County TX: It is illegal to drive within an arm’s length of alcohol – including alcohol in someone else’s blood stream.
Port Arthur TX: Obnoxious odors may not be emitted while in an elevator.
Texas: It is illegal to sell one’s eye.
Someone must have crop dusted an entire elevator really bad for Port Arthur to pass that kind of law. They should have named it " Kade's Law". *snorts*
Have a fangtastic Midnight Breed Day all!
