6.13.14

Good morning Phoenix, and welcome to the weekend! Our roving reporter will check in soon with the time update – she's getting her helicopter fixed. *grins*
On to today's edition of marriage trivia:
One of history's earliest engagement rings was given to Princess Mary, daughter of Henry VIII. She was two years old at the time.
In the symbolic language of jewels, a sapphire in a wedding ring means marital happiness.
A pearl engagement ring is said to be bad luck because its shape echoes that of a tear.
Aquamarine represents marital harmony and is said to ensure a long, happy marriage.
Seventeen tons of gold are made into wedding rings each year in the United States!
Joke of the Day:
Two Italian virgins marry and go on their honeymoon. Unfortunately, neither knows what to do when they get there.
The newlyweds call the groom's mother for advice. The mother says that they should sit on the bed together, snuggle, and things should happen from there. The newlyweds do this, but nothing happens.
The groom calls his mother back. She says they should take their clothes off, get under the covers, and nature should take its course. The bride and groom take his mother's advice, but still nothing comes to mind.
He calls his mother a third time. Getting frustrated with the situation, she says, "Listen, just take the biggest thing you have and stick it in her hairiest spot!"
The groom is quiet for a moment and then asks his mother, "I've got my nose in her armpit -- now what?"
Quote of the Day:
Marriage is the bond between a person who never remembers anniversaries and another who never forgets them. Ogden Nash
Random Daily Factoid:
The statue of Liberty was not always green. It is made up of pure copper panels which oxidized over time, turning it into the rich green color that we see now. The statue was first assembled in Paris, France.
Great place for a romantic getaway:
Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa – Asheville, NC
While on the campaign trail, then Sen. Barack Obama visited Asheville, the sophisticated mountain hamlet tucked between the Great Smoky and Blue Ridge mountains. He was so impressed he vowed to return, and so he did -- as President Obama, with the first lady in tow. His home base for both visits was this 512-room inn, dating from 1913 and fashioned from rough-hewn granite boulders. Follow in the prez's footsteps by booking your own room at the historic hotel, known for its sweeping mountain views. (Hint: It's particularly beguiling in the fall, when the hillsides explode with autumnal color.)
Be careful out there today - it's Friday the 13th, and there's a full moon - grab a black cat and hold on, it's gonna be a bumpy ride!
Have a fangtastic day -  Brock
