6.24.14

Good morning Phoenix! As our Roving Reporter posted, there are only 6 days left until Mat gets marked and mated. Here's some more trivia for you to enjoy.
To ensure fertility, the Irish would take a hen that was about to lay an egg and tie it to the wedding bed.
In Egypt, women will pinch the bride to bring good luck to those who pinched her.
In several countries, including Germany and Greece, the bride attempts to cover her new husband’s foot while dancing in order to establish dominance.
During a Javanese wedding celebration, the couple takes three rolled-up betel leaves each and throws them at one another for good luck.
The bachelor or stag party supposedly started in fifth-century Sparta where military compatriots would feast and toast one another on the eve of a wedding, like warriors going to battle.
Joke of the Day:
A college math professor and his wife are both 60 years old. One evening the wife comes home and finds a note from her husband. It says: "My dear, now that you are 60 years old, there are some things you no longer do for me. I am at the Holiday Inn with my 20-year-old student. Don't bother waiting up for me."
He returns home late that night to find a note from his wife: "You, my dear, are also 60 years old and there are also things I need that you're not giving me. So, I am at the Motel 6 with one of your 20-year-old students. Being a math professor, I'm sure you know that 20 goes into 60 way more than 60 goes into 20. So, don't YOU wait up for ME."
Quote of the Day:
People say you can't live without love, but I think oxygen is more important.
Random Daily Factoid:
Bats always turn left when exiting a cave.
Great Place for a Getaway:
Cove Haven Entertainment Resorts, Pennsylvania
What’s better than a glass of champagne? How about one that’s the size of a bathtub?
A 7-foot-tall Champagne Glass Whirlpool Bath-for-Two is the eye-popping centerpiece at Cove Haven Entertainment Resorts in northeastern Pennsylvania.
The Champagne Glass suite, offered at the properties’ three locations, was so popular with couples when it was first offered in the ‘80s, it had to be reserved a year in advance. Even though it’s easier to snag a reservation these days, the Poconos have enjoyed a recent upsurge in interest. The four-level Egyptian-themed suite also features a shower for two, a round, king-size bed with a “celestial ceiling,” and a sauna.
Have a fangtastic day everyone!  Brock
