6.17.14

Good morning Phoenix! Hope you're all having a good week so far. As our roving reporter told you, Mathias has been brought home. Just in time, too! He's got to get ready to be mated. *grins*
Wedding facts for today:
In Japan, white was always the color of choice for bridal ensembles -- long before Queen Victoria popularized it in the Western world.
In Korea, brides don bright hues of red and yellow to take their vows.
In Egypt, the bride's family traditionally does all the cooking for a week after the wedding, so the couple can…relax.
In South Africa, the parents of both bride and groom traditionally carried fire from their hearths to light a new fire in the newlyweds' hearth.
Joke of the Day:
An old couple celebrates their 50th wedding anniversary in their home.
"Just think," the old man says, "we were sitting here at this same breakfast table, naked as jaybirds, 50 years ago."
"Well," the old lady snickers, "what do you say -- should we get naked?"
The two immediately strip to the buff and sit back down at the table. "You know, honey," the little old lady says slyly, "My breasts burn for you now as they did 50 years ago."
"I'm not surprised," replies the old man. "One's in your coffee and the other is in your oatmeal!"
Quote of the Day:
One day my wife's credit card got stolen.. what a relief it was to find that the thief spends less than my wife!
Random Daily Factoid:
Q-Tip Cotton Swabs were originally called Baby Gays.
Great Getaway:
The Roosevelt, New Orleans, Louisiana
The 1893 landmark underwent a $170 million renovation in 2009, bringing its Italian crystal chandeliers, mosaic tiled floors, gilded columns and wrought iron detailing back to the glory days when Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, and Tennessee Williams frequented its cocktail lounges. The guest rooms, featuring antique-style décor and high ceilings, are some of the city's largest, and the location can't be beat. The hotel is just two blocks from the French Quarter and all of its cultural riches.
Hope you all have a fangtastic day! Oh, and be sure to wish Amy Myers a very happy birthday!
